Did You Know? Red Curb Parking Zones are No Parking Zones Unless Signage Dictates Hour Restriction

Red Curb Parking Zones Allow for Emergency Vehicle and Bus Access in Downtown Anchorage

With the goal of reducing the number of parking violations, EasyPark has developed the “Did You Know?” educational campaign. The topics for this educational series stem from research into the most common causes for parking citations. During the month of July, EasyPark’s “Did You Know” will cover red curb parking zones in downtown Anchorage.

“Painted red curbs ensure that emergency vehicles can get in close proximity to a building as well as allow busses to smoothly pick up their passengers with no delay,” Parking Director, Brian Borguno said.

If you are parking in downtown Anchorage, you will notice that curbs are noticeably colored red that indicate no stopping, standing or parking for vehicles, with the exception to buses. Typically these zones are in place 24 hours per day 7 days a week. There are exceptions to the hour restriction, in which signage on street will indicate when it is acceptable to park in the red curb zone.
