Did You Know? It's Easy To Avoid Tickets For Improper Parking!

Proper Parking Positioning Makes A Difference to Other Parkers

With the goal of reducing the number of parking violations, EasyPark has developed the “Did You Know?” educational campaign. The topics for this educational series stem from research into the most common causes for parking citations. During the month of June, EasyPark’s “Did You Know” will cover how the position of parking your vehicle makes a difference in avoiding parking tickets in downtown Anchorage.

One of the easiest ways to avoid a parking ticket is to be sure that your vehicle is parked in the correct position at the street parking meter or in EasyPark’s garages or lots. To park correctly, the following items are important to remember:

1.   Parking at Single Head Parking Meter – The front bumper of your vehicle should be aligned with the meter head.

2.   Parking at a Double Head Parking Meter – The back bumper of your vehicle should be aligned with the meter head on left side and the front bumper of your vehicle should be aligned with the meter head on the right side.

3.   Parking within the Lines in Garages or Parking Lots – Vehicles are to be parked within the lines of each parking space (no wheels on or over the lines).

“Proper positioning of parking spaces assures that parking spaces are effectively being used and assures that all spaces are accessible to other parkers,” Parking Director, Brian Borguno said.  “It also ends frustration from other parkers when others are parked correctly.”
