Tips on How to Avoid Meter Violations

With the goal of reducing the number of parking violations, EasyPark has developed the "Did you Know" educational campaign. The topics for this educational series stem from research into the most common causes for parking citations. During the month of February, EasyPark’s “Did You Know” will cover how to avoid meter violations in downtown Anchorage.

Street metered spaces are the most desired parking spaces in downtown Anchorage, as they are located in the core of the city. All downtown street meters have time restrictions.  The 2 hour meters are the most costly to park at ($1.75 per hour) due to their prime locations.

If a two hour metered parking space is your desired choice, you can download the free PaybyPhone app, pay on your phone versus hassling with the meter, and get reminders as your time is expiring.  There are many other parking options in downtown Anchorage that are less costly and allow you to park without the risk of an expired meter. EasyPark offers 4 parking garages (1st hour free at JCPenney parking garage) and 12 parking lots, at a rate of $1.25 per hour Excludes City Hall parking lot).

Parking in any EasyPark garage or lot also comes with additional benefits. EasyPark provides convenient and free amenities for our parkers that include: tire fills for low tires, jump starts for dead batteries, and escorts (walking & driving) to and from your vehicle. These free amenities are available 7 days a week from 5:00 a.m. – midnight by calling or texting 297-4471.
