New Street Meter Technology Upgrade in Downtown Anchorage - UPDATE

December 22, 2016

New Technology Upgrade will Affect Future Use of the ParkCard

The maintenance and parking enforcement staff have begun upgrading the street meters from the outside periphery of downtown Anchorage and will work their way in to the central core. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

During this transition, the Parkcard payment option will be accepted until December 31, 2016 at various meters. Meters that cannot accept the Parkcard payment option will be marked with an orange/white sticker that reads “Park Card Not Accepted.” If you are not able to use your Parkcard funds by the deadline date, please bring in your Parkcard to the EasyPark office located at 440 B Street Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and we will do a parking exchange and/or refund your money.

“With this meter technology upgrade, customers should expect faster transactions with their credit/debit cards,” says Brian Borguno, Parking Director for EasyPark.”

If a parking meter is not accepting payment, please call or text 297-4471 with the meter number (located on the top of the dome) and your location. An alternative way to pay the parking meter is using PayByPhone. Users simply need to set up a free account via www.paybyphone.com, calling 1-866-243-Park (7275), or load the free application on their mobile phone.
